A man wanted to become a monk so he went to the monastery and talked to the head monk.(어떤 남자가 수도승이 되고자 하여 수도원에 가서 대수도승(?)에게 말하였다.)
The head monk said: "You must take a vow of silence and can only say two words every three years."(대수도승은 침묵을 맹세하고 3년에 한번씩 두 마디를 할 수 있다고 말했다.)
The man agreed and after the first 3 years, the head monk came to him and said, "What are your two words?"(그 남자는 동의하였으며 3년 후에 대수도승이 그에게 물었다. 두 마디만 하세요.)
"Food cold!" , the man replied.(Food cold[음식이 차가워요)]라 답했다.)
Three more years went by and the head monk came to him and said "What are your two words?"(3년이 다시 지나고 대수도승이 다시 무슨말을 하겠느냐고 물었다.)
"Robe dirty!", the man exclaimed.(Robe dirty[옷이 더러워요]라고 답했다.)
Three more years went by and the head monk came to him and said "What are your two words?"(다시 3년이 지나자 대수도승이 다시 무슨말을 하겠는지 물었다.)
"I quit!" , said the man.(I quit[그만 둘래요]라고 답했다.)
"Well, the head monk replied, I am not surprised. You have done nothing but complain ever since you got here!"(대수도승 왈: 그래, 결코 놀라운 일이 아니야. 자네는 여기에 와서는 불평만 했어.")
