Farmer John lived on a quiet rural highway. But, as time went by, the traffic  built up at an alarming rate. The traffic was so heavy and so fast that his chickens were being run over at a rate of three to six a day.
  John이라는 농부는 조용한 시골의 고속도로 옆에 살고 있었다. 그러나 시간이 지나자 통행량이 놀라운 속도록 증가했다. 교통량이 너무 많아서 닭이 하루에 3~5마리씩 치어 죽었다.

  So he had the county workers go out and erected a sign that said:
  그래서 그는 인부들을 시켜서 다음과 같은 간판을 내 걸었다.

  SLOW: SCHOOL CROSSING
  천천히: 학교 횡단보도

  The 'school crossing' sign seems to make them go even faster." So, he had the county workers put up a new sign:
  학교 횡단보도를 나타내는 간판이 더욱 빨리 달리게 만드는 것 같았다. 그래서 그는 인부들에게 새로운 간판을 붙이도록 했다.

  SLOW: CHILDREN AT PLAY
  천천히: 아이들이 놀고 있음

  That really sped them up. He put up another sign by himself. It was spray-painted on a sheet of wood:
  이 간판은 더욱 빨리 달리게 만들었다. 그는 다른 간판을 직접 세웠다. 나무 조각에 페인트 스프레이로 다음과 같이 쓰여 있었다.

  NUDIST COLONY: Go slow and watch out for the chicks!
  나체촌: 천천히 운전하면서 병아리를 조심하세요.
  
  *chick은 병아리라는 뜻 외에 젊은 아가씨란 뜻도 있다.
