[Azar] 관계부사

1. 장소, 시간, 이유, 방법을 나타내는 선행사를 수식하는 절에는 관계부사가 쓰인다. 주의할 점은 관계부사가 전치사 + 관계대명사를 대신한다는 것이다.
   
   The city where we spent our vacation was beautiful.
   1960 is the year when the revolution took place.
   This is the way how it took place.
   It is the reason why he did it.
   
   where, when과 달리 how와 why의 선행사는 각각 way, reason으로 제한되어 있다.
   
   
2. 관계부사 where
   
   다음 예는 관계부사가 전치사 + 관계대명사를 대신한다는것을 보여준다. 전치사 + 관계대명사의 형태가 모두 관계부사가 되는 것은 아니다. 전치사가 장소를 나타내는 in, at, on일 때 where를 쓴다.
   
   The building where he lives is very old.
   The building in which he lives is very old.
   The building which he lives in is very old.
   The building that he lives in is very old.
   The building he lives in is very old.
   
   
3. 관계부사 when
   
   선행사가 시간을 나타내면, 전치사 + 관계대명사가 관계부사 when으로 대치될 수 있다. 유의해야 할 점은 관계대명사 which와 함께 쓰일 때는 전치사가 쓰이지만, that과 함께 쓰이거나 관계대명사가 생략된 구문에서는 전치사가 쓰이지 않는다는 것이다. 
   
   I'll never forget the day when I met you.
   I'll never forget the day on which I met you.
   I'll never forget the day that I met you.(전치사가 생략된다는 점에 유의)
   I'll never forget the day I met you.(전치사가 생략된다는 점에 유의)
